Statistics Canada's June survey put 2020 seeded area at 25.0 million acres of wheat (up 1.5%), 7.5 million acres of barley (up 1.4%), 3.8 million acres of oats (up 6.5%) and 20.8 million acres of canola (down 0.8%). Soybean area fell 11.3% to 5.1 million acres.
Higher oat and barley area increases feed grain supply, while lower canola area tightens canola meal availability. Feed buyers should expect firmer canola meal and softer oat and barley values.
After 72 past bearish report events, Oats moved a median +0.2% over 5 sessions (50% higher; middle half -3.7% to +3.8%), and -2.5% over 20.
