National Fertiliser Development Centre data showed Pakistani urea offtake rose 4.9% month on month and 81% year on year to 1.16 million tonnes in June 2020. First-half offtake declined 7% to 2.6 million tonnes, and urea inventory fell 63% to 414,000 tonnes.
The June surge followed delayed purchases in May while farmers awaited a subsidy.
Low urea inventory and a rebound in offtake point to firmer near-term nitrogen demand in Pakistan, but the cumulative decline and subsidy uncertainty limit price upside. Buyers should monitor LNG supply to plants for August to October.
After 26 past neutral report events, Urea moved a median -0.4% over 5 sessions (42% higher; middle half -4.1% to +1.5%), and +0.9% over 20.
