USDA retail fertilizer surveys for the second week of May 2023 show mixed price moves. Urea rose 6% to an average of $664 per ton, while anhydrous fell 9% to $910 per ton, and DAP, MAP and UAN32 edged higher.
Prices for all fertilizers remained well below year-earlier levels.
Fertilizer costs feed into crop production costs and planting decisions for corn and other feed grains. Mixed moves with most products still far below last year suggest little pressure on feed-grain prices from input costs.
After 26 past neutral report events, Urea moved a median -0.4% over 5 sessions (42% higher; middle half -4.1% to +1.5%), and +0.9% over 20.
