EIA's November Short-Term Energy Outlook raised its US natural gas marketed production forecast for Q4 2020 and Q1 2021. It also raised consumption estimates and lifted its Q4 Henry Hub spot forecast by 25 cents to $2.93/MMBtu.
EIA still expects lower average production and consumption in 2021 than in the prior two years.
A higher Henry Hub price forecast supports US gas prices, while the upward production revision partly offsets the bullish effect. Rising LNG export demand is cited as a further support for prices.
After 74 past bullish report events, Natural Gas moved a median +1.3% over 5 sessions (55% higher; middle half -4.0% to +11.3%), and +2.1% over 20.
