Practical Farmers of Iowa and Iowa State University released 2020 oat variety trial results, testing 18 varieties at four research farms. The article reports that Iowa planted 240,000 acres of oats in 2020 and averaged 78 bushels per acre, above the five-year average of 70.
The trial results inform variety choice and do not change the supply outlook, so they have little price effect on oats.
After 35 past neutral report events, Oats moved a median +0.2% over 5 sessions (51% higher; middle half -1.9% to +2.5%), and -1.2% over 20.
