Chinese importers bought four to six cargoes of Brazilian soybeans, up to about 360,000 tonnes, for October and November shipment. The purchases came as Hurricane Ida damage kept US Gulf export terminals constrained, and the Brazilian beans sold at $4.20 or more over CBOT November futures.
Chinese demand shifting to Brazil at a large premium supports Brazilian soybean prices and signals tight prompt supply, which is bullish for soybeans and soybean meal. Ongoing US terminal constraints also limit the export outlet for US beans.
