The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange said dry weather in parts of Argentina may reduce this season's soybean planting area below its earlier forecast of 19 million hectares, an all-time high. The exchange said it would likely keep its forecast in its November 11 report but could revise acreage down if the drought over the next 15 days does not ease.
Dryness in La Pampa, Cordoba, Santa Fe and Buenos Aires is worse than previously expected.
Lower Argentine soybean area would tighten export supplies of soybeans, soybean meal and soybean oil, which supports prices for feed buyers. The price effect depends on whether rainfall improves over the coming weeks.
