RFD-TV reports the latest Cattle on Feed report showed total cattle on feed down about 1% from last year and placements lower in drought-hit states. September fed cattle marketings were 1.86 million head, up 4% from a year earlier.
Farm Bureau economists called the report bullish.
Lower placements signal tighter future cattle supplies, which should support cattle prices as beef demand holds and packers compete for animals.
