The Indian government extended Indian Potash Ltd's state trading enterprise status for urea imports until 31 March 2026. IPL will import alongside RCF and NFL, which are already authorised importers.
India produces too little urea to meet demand and relies on imports from Oman, China and the UAE.
The extension keeps government-controlled import channels in place, supporting steady Indian urea purchasing. It does not itself change the price outlook, so the effect on fertilizer markets is limited.
After 26 past neutral policy events, Urea moved a median -1.0% over 5 sessions (27% higher; middle half -4.1% to +0.6%), and -2.5% over 20.
