Bangladesh's Ministry of Agriculture has proposed a Tk25,000 crore agricultural subsidy budget for FY2025-26, Tk8,000 crore more than this year. The Finance Division prefers to hold it at Tk17,000 crore, and most of the subsidy goes to fertilizers.
Larger fertilizer subsidies in Bangladesh would support urea import demand, though the budget is still under negotiation and the effect on global prices is small.
