Bangladesh's agriculture minister said there is no fertiliser shortage and that the government has redetermined chemical fertiliser demand for fiscal 2020-21. The government will procure an additional 100,000 tonnes of urea and 200,000 tonnes of DAP.
Total planned demand is 2.55 million tonnes of urea, 1.5 million tonnes of DAP and 6 million tonnes of TSP, MOP and gypsum.
Additional government tenders for urea and DAP add modest import demand in South Asia, which can support fertiliser prices. The effect on feed-grain markets is limited.
After 129 past bullish policy events, Urea moved a median -0.1% over 5 sessions (47% higher; middle half -1.3% to +2.3%), and +1.4% over 20.
After 151 past bullish policy events, DAP moved a median +0.0% over 5 sessions (50% higher; middle half -0.6% to +0.9%), and +1.9% over 20.
