The European Parliament adopted additional tariffs on Russian and Belarusian fertilizers starting 1 July 2025. Urea and other nitrogen products face an extra €40/t, and DAP, MAP and NPK products face an extra €45/t, with rates rising to €315/t and €430/t by 2028.
The duties add to existing 6.5% tariffs.
Higher EU import costs for Russian and Belarusian fertilizer reduce supply options and lift European phosphate and nitrogen prices, which can pull demand toward other origins and support global fertilizer prices.
After 129 past bullish policy events, Urea moved a median -0.1% over 5 sessions (47% higher; middle half -1.3% to +2.3%), and +1.4% over 20.
