USDA's July WASDE raised 2025 and 2026 US milk production forecasts by 500 million pounds to 228.3 billion for 2025, on higher cow numbers and milk per cow. The Class III price forecast for 2025 was lowered to $18.50/cwt, while the Class IV forecast rose to $19.05/cwt.
Higher projected milk output and a lower Class III forecast signal more dairy supply and softer cheese-linked prices. Stronger butter, whey and NDM forecasts partly offset this.
After 273 past bearish report events, Milk (Class III) moved a median -0.2% over 5 sessions (39% higher; middle half -1.3% to +0.4%), and -1.4% over 20.
