Oil prices rose on Friday after an attack on a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz highlighted supply risks from the US-Israeli war on Iran, now in its eighth month. Brent for December gained about 1.5% to $116.59 and WTI added about 1.4% to $103.45.
Brent was on track for a nearly 13% monthly gain.
Attacks on tankers in Hormuz threaten a major share of seaborne crude, supporting higher energy prices that raise feed production and freight costs.
