Indian Potash Limited closed a urea import tender on October 7 with offers about 10% cheaper than India's August purchase. West coast offers ranged from $356.25 to $416.50 per tonne and east coast offers from $352.10 to $465, and total offers were more than double the 1.7 million tonnes sought.
The tender follows a volatile 2026 in which urea prices peaked near $959 per tonne in April before easing.
India is the largest fertiliser importer, so its tender prices act as a benchmark for global urea. Ample supply and lower offers point to softer nitrogen costs heading into the fourth quarter and winter cropping.
After 81 past bearish trade events, UREA moved a median -1.0% over 5 sessions (28% higher; middle half -7.2% to +0.4%), and -5.5% over 20.
