Indonesia's energy ministry is pushing ahead with plans to raise its biodiesel mandate from B35 to B40 and aims to fully implement B35 by August 1. September palm oil futures on Bursa Malaysia rose 2.2% to 3,756 ringgit per tonne on 28 June amid higher crude and competing edible oil prices.
A move toward B40 would divert palm oil from exports into domestic biodiesel, tightening global supply. Together with El Niño concerns, this supports higher palm oil and soybean oil prices.
