Kenya's government has cut DAP fertilizer supply, reportedly on the President's directive, to address soil acidity linked to continuous DAP use in the North Rift. The first batch of subsidized fertilizer distributed by the National Cereals and Produce Board contains no DAP, and the ministry is reportedly moving to cut imports from the six million bags planned.
Farmers continue to prefer DAP because of its yield performance.
A cut in DAP imports reduces Kenyan demand for phosphate fertilizer and shifts volume toward NPK, which tightens the regional DAP market while farmers face a costlier or less effective fertilizer mix.
After 50 past bearish policy events, DAP moved a median +0.9% over 5 sessions (62% higher; middle half -0.1% to +1.6%), and +0.9% over 20.
