Natural gas futures rose 2.9 percent to $2.23 per million Btu on Friday as expectations for LNG exports grew. Asian spot LNG prices hit a four-month high, and Henry Hub gained on hotter-than-normal U.S. weather.
Hot weather was expected to return after Hurricane Isaias passed.
Stronger LNG export expectations and hot U.S. weather support higher gas prices, which raise nitrogen fertilizer and ethanol input costs. This can indirectly support corn and DDGS prices.
After 221 past bullish weather events, Natural Gas moved a median +3.3% over 5 sessions (61% higher; middle half -5.2% to +14.0%), and -0.3% over 20.
