Oil futures fell as much as 3% on reports that US and Iranian officials would hold a second round of talks in Islamabad. WTI for May was down about 3.2% near $95.90, and Brent was down about 1.5% near $97.88.
The current ceasefire expires April 21.
Energy prices are tracking diplomatic headlines, and a failed round of talks would likely lift crude and diesel costs again. Lower energy input costs would ease feed production and transport expenses if a deal holds.
