Some US agricultural export prices have fallen over the past two weeks, partly because a shortage of containers has blocked exporters' shipments. Regulators are uncertain whether shipowner practices violated the US Shipping Act.
Container shortages restrict US export capacity and push down farm-gate and FOB prices for containerized products such as soybeans and DDGS. Higher container freight costs also widen the spread between US and competing origins.
