Human Rights Watch sent a letter to the European Commission urging it to include land rights and human rights protections in its forthcoming regulation on forest and ecosystem risk commodities (FERCs). The letter backs recommendations from the European Parliament's October 2020 proposal.
Stricter human-rights conditions on imports of soy, palm oil and cattle products could add sourcing requirements for feed ingredients entering the EU. Any price effect is indirect and would only follow adoption of the rules.
