Russia will ban sunflower seed exports from April 1 to August 31 and impose a 1.5 million tonne export quota on sunflower oil from April 15 to August 31. A 700,000 tonne quota for sunflower meal was also set.
The government cited sharp global price growth and domestic price pressure.
Russian export bans and quotas remove a major share of world sunflower oil and meal supply through August, pushing buyers toward palm, soy and rapeseed alternatives and keeping meal prices elevated.
