FranceAgriMer data showed French soft wheat conditions at 64% good or excellent as of May 13, a four-year low and down from 93% a year earlier. Maize planting reached 72% of the expected area, still behind last year's pace.
Poor French crop ratings point to a smaller harvest from the EU's largest wheat exporter, which supports wheat prices and lifts demand for other origins.
