Union Pacific will raise rail rates from September 1, 2024 on soybean meal, DDGS, gluten, vegetable oil and miscellaneous feed shipments. Increases range from $250 to $350 per car, with extra percentages for large covered hoppers and tanks.
Higher rail freight costs widen the gap between origin and destination prices for these feed products. This can weigh on farm-gate and FOB values for US meal and DDGS.
