The U.S. Grains Council weekly report noted another up week in ocean freight, with the Baltic Panamax index at 1,041 versus 282 a year earlier. The PNW grain vessel lineup fell to about 61 ships, and BNSF rail deliveries of grain are improving.
Rising Panamax rates raise the cost of moving grain to Asia, while easing PNW congestion may reduce the Gulf-versus-PNW price premium.
