USDA plans to use an internally developed AI tool to screen its November 10 crop report after correcting September corn data affected by the weighting of irrigated and non-irrigated plots in Kansas and Nebraska. The corrected September yield forecasts were 118 bushels per acre for Kansas, 182 for Nebraska and 178.8 nationally; USDA said October yield and production forecasts were unchanged.
The correction showed a small upward revision to the national yield estimate, but the unchanged October forecasts imply no new production shock. Additional checks may affect confidence in future USDA corn estimates, with little immediate price impact.
After 770 past neutral report events, Corn moved a median +0.2% over 5 sessions (54% higher; middle half -1.1% to +1.6%), and +0.7% over 20.
