China's Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange will begin sunflower oil futures trading on November 12, 2026, with contracts for May, July, September, and November 2027 delivery. Options trading will start at the same time for May and July 2027 contracts, creating new instruments for hedging and price discovery in the Chinese market.
The contracts could improve hedging and price transparency for sunflower oil buyers and sellers in China, and may influence international benchmarks if liquidity develops. The launch itself does not change physical supply or demand, so the immediate price effect is uncertain.
After 196 past neutral policy events, Soybean Oil moved a median +0.1% over 5 sessions (52% higher; middle half -1.6% to +2.0%), and -0.5% over 20.
