British pork output rose 2.8% year over year to 246,600 tonnes in the third quarter of 2026, supported by a 2.3% increase in clean pig slaughter to 2.64 million head. Average carcass weights returned close to year-earlier levels, while sow and boar slaughter rose 15.4% to 56,000 head.
Higher slaughter numbers add to near-term pork availability and are bearish for hog prices. Elevated sow culling could point to a smaller breeding herd later, but it is not yet a firm sign of future supply contraction.
After 159 past bearish report events, Lean Hogs moved a median -0.2% over 5 sessions (47% higher; middle half -2.2% to +1.3%), and +1.0% over 20.
