Ukraine shipped nearly 1.3 million tonnes of grain by rail for export in October, about 25% more than in September. Ukrzaliznytsia transported nearly 1.6 million tonnes of grain cargo overall during the month, with 683,000 tonnes routed through western border crossings and very little rail cargo moving through Greater Odesa ports.
Higher rail volumes provide an alternative outlet for Ukrainian grain while seaports remain constrained, partially easing the export bottleneck. The additional flow may modestly increase available export supply and limit upward price pressure, though rail capacity remains inadequate to restore normal shipments.
