GrainCorp is working on a proposed renewable-fuel refinery in Brisbane that could use tallow, used cooking oil and canola oil as feedstocks. The proposal comes as Australia, which imports about 90% of its diesel, seeks domestic fuel options amid disruption to global oil supplies.
If the refinery proceeds, demand for tallow and other feedstocks could rise while domestic renewable-fuel output partly displaces diesel imports. The project is still proposed, so any price effect is likely limited for now.
After 21 past bearish policy events, ULSD / Diesel moved a median -2.4% over 5 sessions (38% higher; middle half -6.5% to +4.7%), and -1.1% over 20.
