Bangladesh is considering a 50:50 joint venture to build a one-million-tonne DAP fertilizer plant in Saudi Arabia, with Dhaka proposing to buy all of its output for 20 to 25 years. The proposal envisages Saudi provision of gas and raw materials, and operations potentially starting in 2030 after a feasibility study and agreements.
A long-term offtake arrangement could secure Bangladesh’s fertilizer supply and provide a dedicated market for Saudi DAP production. If realized, it may reduce Bangladesh’s exposure to spot-market tightness, with limited near-term price impact before the plant is built.
After 36 past neutral trade events, DAP moved a median +0.7% over 5 sessions (64% higher; middle half -0.0% to +2.1%), and +0.4% over 20.
