Goldman Sachs revised its Egyptian pound forecast, projecting the dollar at 53 pounds in three months, 52 in six months and 50 in 12 months. It said the revisions reflect recent exchange-rate moves and its expectation that the pound will remain closely linked to oil prices, while maintaining a positive view on the Egyptian currency.
A stronger pound could reduce the local-currency cost of imported feed and agricultural inputs, all else equal. The forecast also links Egypt’s currency outlook to oil prices, which affect import costs and broader inflation.
