India's wheat exports increased to 222,420 tonnes in September from 55,521 tonnes in August, the month after the government lifted its export ban. Bangladesh was the largest destination, followed by Nepal and Sri Lanka, but Indian wheat remained expensive relative to competing supplies.
The increase adds export availability from India and could modestly weigh on wheat prices, particularly in nearby importing markets. High prices may limit the pace and durability of shipments.
