France’s agriculture ministry has launched a short-term study of whether to establish strategic grain reserves to ensure supplies during a crisis. The ministry gave no details and said the mission’s findings would be released at the end of the month; France currently has no strategic grain stocks.
This is an exploratory policy initiative, not a current purchase or reserve-building decision, so it has no immediate supply effect; actual stock accumulation could increase demand and tighten available grain supplies.
