Indonesia’s agriculture minister outlined a proposed system linking corn growers and small-scale livestock farmers, with farmers’ harvests bought directly and any surplus purchased and stored by BULOG. During seasonal shortages, participating farmers could retrieve the stored corn; the government also supplies SPHP corn at Rp5,000/kg and ID Food offers soybean meal at affordable prices.
The storage-and-release arrangement is intended to shift corn availability from harvest periods into the September–November lean season, reducing seasonal supply tightness and feed-cost spikes. Subsidized corn and soybean meal could also temper demand for higher-priced commercial feed inputs.
