Malaysia’s palm oil inventories rose 24.54% month on month in September to a record 3.51 million tonnes as production increased and exports declined. With refineries buying less from independent mills, some producers are accumulating unsold crude palm oil, risking quality deterioration and reduced purchases of farmers’ fresh fruit bunches.
Record stocks and slower exports leave more palm oil available, putting downward pressure on prices and millers’ procurement prices. Storage constraints could also force mills to cut purchases from smallholders.
After 96 past bearish report events, Palm Oil moved a median -0.1% over 5 sessions (48% higher; middle half -1.3% to +1.6%), and -0.9% over 20.
