The American Dairy Coalition surveyed producers on fuel costs and got more than 370 responses in ten days. Respondents flagged manure handling, everyday farm diesel use, and feed and freight as their largest fuel-related expenses.
The group is urging USDA to account for daily dairy operational needs in the Harvest Fuel Relief Program.
Diesel costs add to feed and freight expenses for dairy and livestock operations, which can reduce farm demand for feed and pressure margins. The effect on feed commodity prices is limited, since this is a cost-side survey rather than a supply or demand shock.
After 90 past bullish policy events, ULSD / Diesel moved a median +1.4% over 5 sessions (66% higher; middle half -1.9% to +4.1%), and +0.1% over 20.
