Russia is preparing the Arctic port of Murmansk to export grain for the first time, with an initial trial shipment of about 40,000 tonnes planned for November 2026. The grain will travel more than 2,000 km by rail from Stavropol and be loaded directly from railcars onto ships using mobile conveyors.
The new Arctic route diversifies Russian export logistics away from Black Sea ports that have been disrupted by attacks, which could modestly ease freight constraints for wheat exports, though the initial volume is small.
After 137 past bearish logistics events, Wheat (SRW) moved a median -0.3% over 5 sessions (44% higher; middle half -2.2% to +1.0%), and +0.0% over 20.
