The IEA's Global Gas Security Review 2026 forecasts global LNG supply to fall about 20 bcm, or 3%, in 2026, the steepest annual decline on record. Loadings from Qatar and the UAE dropped by around 60 bcm between March and September because of disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz.
The IEA also projects global gas demand to fall about 1.5% this year.
A record supply decline with demand destruction still leaves the gas market tight, which supports natural gas prices and the cost of nitrogen fertiliser made from gas. Higher energy costs also feed through to feed manufacturing.
After 74 past bullish report events, Natural Gas moved a median +1.3% over 5 sessions (55% higher; middle half -4.0% to +11.3%), and +2.1% over 20.
