China's National Bureau of Statistics reported that in the second half of October, 17 of 50 key production materials tracked in circulation rose in price versus mid-October, 28 fell and 5 were unchanged. LNG rose 10.9% month on month to 7,481.9 yuan/tonne, while live hog prices fell 5.1% to 9.3 yuan/kg and compound fertilizer fell 1.8%.
The broad softness in hog prices and the fall in compound fertilizer costs point to weaker livestock margins and cheaper fertilizer inputs for feed producers. The sharp LNG gain reflects energy-driven cost pressure across the wider economy.
After 159 past bearish report events, Lean Hogs moved a median -0.2% over 5 sessions (47% higher; middle half -2.2% to +1.3%), and +1.0% over 20.
