The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) starts applying on 30 December and requires mainly large and medium-sized firms to prove that their agricultural products, including coffee, soy, palm oil, cocoa and beef, were not produced on deforested land. Smaller coffee companies often lack the staff and funds to meet the new due-diligence duties, so industry groups and environmental foundations are offering support.
Compliance costs and traceability requirements could tighten EU import flows for deforestation-linked commodities, adding friction and cost for buyers. The direct price effect on feed commodities is likely modest at this stage.
