The yen opened lower against the dollar in Tokyo on Wednesday, at 158.68-158.69 per dollar at 8:30, after US JOLTS job openings came in at 7.523 million, above the 7.1 million expected. US 10-year yields rose to 4.96% overnight.
By 10:10 the yen had recovered to about 158.28-158.30.
Stronger US labour data lifts US yields and the dollar, which tightens import budgets for dollar-priced feed inputs in yen-based markets.
