COCERAL, the European grain traders' association, issued a preliminary forecast for the 2026 EU grain and oilseed harvest. Total grain output is expected to fall to about 275.6 million tonnes from 287.4 million in 2025, while oilseed production is projected to rise from 32.7 million to 34 million tonnes.
Soft wheat area is seen rising slightly to 21.73 million hectares, with wheat output around 129.7 million tonnes.
A smaller EU grain crop alongside a larger oilseed crop shifts supply toward meal and oil, which may firm feed-grain prices modestly while easing pressure on soybean meal and rapeseed-based feed. The forecast is preliminary and will be revised in March, June and September.
