The Indonesian rupiah opened 0.01% weaker at Rp18,151 per US dollar on November 3 and quickly turned slightly stronger. Oil prices fell to about $104.77 per barrel on hopes of a US-Iran settlement, and Indonesia's inflation came in at 3.28%, below forecasts.
Lower oil prices ease imported inflation and FX pressure on an oil-importing emerging market, which can support demand for feed inputs priced in dollars. The rupiah's 1.42% October decline could push Bank Indonesia toward a more hawkish stance.
