The Ministry of Agriculture has set aside Rp600 billion, with Rp300 billion for corn seed in the first phase and a further Rp300 billion planned for the following year. The programme aims to expand feed corn planting by up to 300,000 hectares to meet demand of about 1.8 million tons from poultry farmers.
It also links corn farmers, cooperatives, livestock groups and Bulog in an integrated supply chain.
Expanding domestic feed corn area would reduce Indonesia's reliance on imports over time, which is bearish for import demand but supportive of local supply. Near-term effects on prices are limited because planting and yields lag the funding.
After 310 past bearish policy events, Corn moved a median +0.3% over 5 sessions (54% higher; middle half -1.4% to +1.9%), and +0.6% over 20.
