The European Parliament's environment committee discussed a draft report on palm oil and rainforest deforestation on 28 November 2016. The draft was prepared by rapporteur Kateřina Konečná and follows a March hearing on the topic.
A parliamentary push against deforestation-linked palm oil could eventually restrict EU imports, which would be bearish for palm oil demand in Europe. The draft is non-binding at this stage.
After 400 past bearish policy events, Palm Oil moved a median -0.0% over 5 sessions (49% higher; middle half -1.3% to +1.1%), and +0.2% over 20.
