Standard Chartered's SCB EIC forecasts Thai headline inflation will accelerate to 2.3 percent in 2017, mainly due to higher oil prices. It expects Brent crude to average $54 per barrel in 2017.
The analysis says inflation will raise production costs for producers and reduce purchasing power for fixed-income earners, while benefiting oil and commodity exporters.
Higher crude prices feed through to diesel, transport and fertilizer costs for feed producers, so the forecast points to firmer input costs in Thailand.
