India's DGFT notification of 19 April 2017 raised the export ceiling for organic pulses and lentils from 10,000 to 50,000 MT per year. Exemptions for organic wheat, non-Basmati rice, edible oils and sugar were also announced, with export only through EDI ports.
The pulses change is small and limited to organic certified volumes, with no meaningful effect on feed grain or protein meal prices. It is a marginal easing of Indian export policy.
