The Indian government exempted organic wheat, non-Basmati rice, edible oils and sugar from export quantity limits with immediate effect, according to a DGFT notification reported on 20 April 2017. The organic pulses and lentils ceiling rose to 50,000 MT a year.
Only organic, APEDA-certified product is covered, so the change has little effect on world wheat or rice balances. It is a minor policy easing with negligible price implications for feed buyers.
