India's DGFT amended its export policy for Basmati and non-Basmati rice on August 10, 2020. Exports to EU states and Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland are permitted subject to an inspection certificate, which becomes mandatory from January 1, 2021.
Adding a mandatory inspection certificate for European rice exports from 2021 adds compliance steps for Indian exporters, which may slightly constrain shipments to Europe and marginally affect global rice pricing.
After 100 past neutral policy events, RICE moved a median +0.0% over 5 sessions (51% higher; middle half -2.6% to +2.3%), and +0.7% over 20.
